Mozart composed Piano Concerto No. 12 in 1782 for a Vienna audience, a year after he left Salzburg following his break with Archbishop Hyeronimus Colloredo. The change also had an effect on his writing, which was animated by a renewed stylistic freedom from the wishes of the patron, allowing Mozart to show off his technical versatility and depth of interpretation.
Quartet 17, called “The Hunt,” was written in 1785 and is shot through with a strong emotional tension that requires the string quartet to make an extra effort, ability to sing and keep a tight rhythm. “Mozart in Concert and Quartet” features talented and promising young musicians.
