Light, Gravity and Music!
On Thursday, Nov. 25, 1915 , in a lecture at the Prussian Academy, 36-year-old Albert Einstein presented the famous Equation of General Relativity, preceding the great mathematician David Hilbert by a few days and formulating a new theory of gravitation capable of upsetting the very concepts of Space and Time.
Exactly 100 years later, the Sound and Image Association wanted to pay tribute to the great German Scientist by organizing, in the fascinating location of the Vaccheria Nardi Library in Rome, a conference concert to celebrate the centenary of General Relativity.
During the event, in addition to describing the scientist’s most important research, one of his greatest passions along with Physics was also recounted: music.
In fact, Albert Einstein was a passionate violinist and had a great relationship with music. In the event, some pieces by his favorite musicians such as Brahms, Mozart and Beethoven were performed by violinist Ernesto Celani and Lorenzo Porta del Lungo on piano.
The conference was also attended by Professor Giorgio Parisi, President of the Accademia dei Lincei and Nobel Laureate in Physics in 2021, who gave a wonderful interview for us. Enjoy your viewing!
